Compressed Air System

Valdes provided compressed air system improvements by performing an analysis of the entire compressed air system at a large Midwestern bakery. With 19 ovens covering 18 packaging lines in a 30-acre facility, this bakery is one of the largest in the world. The bakery was experiencing volume and pressure shortages in the compressed air system and planned to upgrade the compressed air system to improve the operability and reliability to eliminate outages.

The compressed air study provided specific solutions that could be implemented to improve the overall performance of the compressed air system. Due to little or no documentation on the existing system, an extensive walk-down survey of the bakery was implemented. The physical configuration of the compressed air system as well as the identification and documentation of the end users were completed. A system flow diagram was generated from the information and the end user demand determined. An analytical modeling approach was then utilized to model the system and further analyze its configuration to develop solutions for implementation.

Our recommendations paid immediate dividends. The site successfully implemented the "quick hit" items and continued to use our recommendations to drive efficiency, reliability and operability within their critical system.
