Coal Gasification Pilot Plant Detailed Design

Valdes Engineering Company performed the detailed engineering for a pilot plant that produces pipeline quality natural gas by transforming coal and petroleum coke into clean-burning methane gas.

Valdes provided the project management, detailed engineering, project controls and procurement services for this $35 million fast-track project. The engineering deliverables included detailed process modeling, heat and material balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), major equipment specifications, general arrangement drawings, and construction packages for site preparation work, foundations, structural steel, piping, electrical and instrumentation. The project was successfully commissioned and started up in the first quarter of 2009.
